The Third Annual Winter Pride started the day with a lot of enthusiasm but got dampened quickly when a strong wave of rain storms moved through the area flooding the event and forcing the cancellation of most outdoor events in the Tampa Bay area including Fiesta Ybor and more. Over 100 vendors participated in the one day event in support of the GLBT – Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered community , but immediately after Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio read the City’s Proclamation, the rain began and did not stop for over an hour. The rain caused several tents to collapse, but the spirit of the crowd remained. Unfortunately after a full soaking and flooding, the event began to dissipate. We had a booth at the event and had planned to further cover the Ybor event, but that event was also cancelled as the rains continued to come down. Both single day events took it in stride as they began to plan for 2009.
